Aurora Elos Intense Pulse Light - FAQ’s

How does the Aurora Elos treat my acne?
This machine uses special light which is converted into heat and the IPL is pulsed or turned on for a fraction of a second targeting the bacteria that usually causes acne.  When this bacteria proliferates in clogged pores it can cause bumpy and inflamed acne lesions. This affects and shrinks the sebaceus glands and may reduce the secretion of oil.  It also regenerates healthy cell growth and promotes healing to make skin softer and smoother, hence stimulating new collagen and elastin.

Is treatment with the Aurora Elos safe?
Treatment is very safe for all skin tones even very dark skin. There are many advances in this type of Technology that make it one of the safest acne treatment systems available. There are no long-term health hazards from the light energy used in this medical grade equipment. IPL's have been used for decades in medicine, surgery and aesthetics without adversity.

What kind of results can I expect from the Aurora Elos IPL treatment?
Over a series of treatments with the Aurora Elos most patients notice a faster healing time of existing acne lesions. Frequency and severity of acne lesions should subside as the treatment goes on. As well, ongoing treatment can help to prevent acne break outs and promote skin healing by evening out the skin tone and texture.  Generally 4 treatments will be required to see good initial results, as acne does not disappear immediately.

How frequently do I need the treatments?
Treatments are done every 2 weeks or once a week initially combined with our suggested home maintenance program of Medical Grade only Danne products twice a day. Each session takes approximately 20 minutes.  Only 400 nanometres of light is required to kill bacteria and this laser produces 830 nanometres so it quite sufficiently kills all the bacteria. Additional treatments may be required if other breakouts occur ie. Due to stress or hormonal changes.

Does the treatment hurt?
Optimal results are possible with maximum client comfort, due to the inbuilt cooling system that protects the skin. The sensation often described as a "hot pinch" or "snapping" feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward.  However, we do apply a soothing post laser cream to our clients after the treatment.

What happens after each treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. Every patient responds differently but most patients report that they notice improvement as early as 1 week into the treatment series.
